Areas of dense fog reducing visibilities to a quarter mile can be expected this morning. Visibilities below a quarter mile are also possible in low-lying areas and river valleys...especially west of highway 41. The fog coupled with surface temperatures near freezing may also create scattered slippery spots on area roads...particularly on bridges and overpasses. Anyone traveling this morning should be prepared to encounter fog...and plan accordingly. If you encounter a fog bank while driving on the highway...always use your low-beam headlights and slow down to a speed at which you can safely stop if you encounter an animal or object in the roadway. Conditions are expected top improve by 9am this morning.
