Scattered showers will lift slowly toward the north northwest at 10 mph and affect the Treasure Coast of Martin...Saint Lucie and Indian River counties and should spread into Brevard County. Due to the slow storm motion...heavy rain will accumulate up to 3 inches in some spots causing temporary flooding of some roads and low lying areas. A few of the showers will develop into lightning storms so occasional cloud to ground lightning will be a threat. Also...conditions are favorable for funnel clouds and brief waterspouts over the Atlantic and intracoastal waters this morning. Focus for storms will gradually push to the interior this afternoon as the east coast sea breeze pushed by outflow boundaries propagates inland. There is very little steering flow today so storm motion will be slow and erratic and contribute to another day of locally high rainfall totals. Cold temperatures aloft will support some strong storms containing wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph and hail.
